The International Water Mist Association (IWMA) was founded on 15th April 1998. The organization holds an annual two-day conference and educational seminars.
IWMA is the only organization exclusively dedicated to water mist firefighting and related technologies and supports the continued development, research and applications engineering of generic water mist systems.
The IWMA head office is in Hamburg, Germany. Members of IWMA are amongst others manufacturers, distributors, insurance companies and scientific institutes from countries like the USA, Egypt, Australia, France, Denmark, the UK and Italy.
Members of the three IWMA committees (the Board of Directors, the Scientific Council and the Marketing Group) act as representatives for the organization in a number of expert and working groups and technical committees such as the CEN TC 191 / WG 10, NFPA 750, IMO (International Maritime Organization) and EMSA (European Maritime Safety Agency of the European Commission).
The International Water Mist Association (IWMA) is a worldwide forum dedicated to water mist firefighting. IWMA is the link between manufacturers, distributors and installers of water mist systems and the end user.
The organization is the connection between all involved in fire protection with water mist like research institutes, architects and AHJs. With its conferences and seminars it provides and distributes knowledge about fire protection with water mist as well as about international standards.
IWMA representatives are involved in guideline and standardization work. IWMA members come from countries around the world like the United States, Australia, Germany, Norway, France, the UK and Italy.
